A fellow booklover introduced me to a podcast titled, “Serial” which is tied to NPR’s “This American Life.” I was all game for listening to something new because I have a super long commute when I go home on Thursdays,
Serial is so thought provoking and has had me hooked from the beginning. OK, so I am only halfway through the podcast but I have been serially listening to this podcast since Monday. Without giving too much away, it’s like the old radio programs that told a story over a series of episodes. Those who like reality TV, murder mysteries, and the Young Adult genre will find something to relate to in Serial because that’s what the focus of the podcast revolves around.
The female narrator used to be a newspaper reporter in Baltimore and she has taken it upon herself to find out if a young man named Adnan Syed who is in prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee is truly innocent. Each episode covers a different facet of the case including a timeline, people/ potential witnesses involved, and how Adnan feels about the different elements of his story. If you have not had a chance to check it out I highly recommend it. The website for the podcast is http://serialpodcast.org/
For those of you already hooked on this show, there will be a second season. Yeah!
